Review Of Gig At Riffs, Swindon 26/02/11

Control were just awesome. This band go from strength to strength and the new album, Punk Rock Ruined My life, due in April looks set to become a classic. As would be expected the set was a mix of old and new and opened with “Keep the home fires burning”. Other tracks off the first album included “Guilty by Association”, “Hooligan Rock and Roll” itself, “Stand Up and Fight” (which was unfortunately and ironically taken literally by some elements in the crowd) and “Ten Years of Chaos”. New tracks (to me anyway) included the title track of new album, a track about Ian Huntley, “Job to Do”, “Rebellion in my Blood” and the closing track “I Hung Up My Boots”. All of them brilliant. Iain told me that the first album is now on its 3rd 1,000 run pressing and I am guessing that the new album will do even better than that.

Bristol again!!

Looks like the lads will be playing Bristol yet again on Wednesday 20th July with Lars Fredericksen’s new band, The Old Firm Casuals. It will be confirmed very soon.

Album launch party

Tickets for the album launch party on 30th April at The Hydrant in Brighton are going well but it is  NOT SOLD OUT! Someone put up on a message board that it is sold out, this is NOT the case and we want to make sure everyone who fancies coming along, comes along and is not put off by this rumour.

Punk Rock ruined my life

The CD version of the album on Step-1 should be available in the next week, so if you haven’t odered a copy yet, get on to it as we have been told by Step-1 HQ that not far off half of the entire press have been ordered! Costing us a fortune – Ed ;-)

New Tee designs

The new t-shirt designs are with the printer and will definately be ready for the album launch party.

Update

Rebellion Update

The band have been booked to play in the Arena at this year’s Rebellion festival in Blackpool on Saturday August 6th. This is a massive improvement from the last two years when the band played the Olympia 2 on the Sunday. The Arena is in many people’s opinion the best stage at the festival for sound and atmosphere.

Lars Fredericksen’s Old Firm Casuals

Rancid legend, Lars, is coming over to play a short tour in the run up to the band’s appearance at Rebellion in Blackpool in early August and has sent a list of the UK based bands he would like to join him on stage at some point on the tour, we are delighted to say we are on that list, so watch this space

Atlanta Calling

The band have been asked if they would be up for playing a very famous festival which looks like it is being relaunched in Atlanta, Georgia on 3/4 September, with the promoters asking if the band would like to have some more dates put on round the event to make it a mini tour of the East Coast of the USA.

Punk Rock Ruined My Life

The band have been told that the album will most likely be available from Monday week, 11th April. Step-1 have said they are absolutely delighted with the advanced orders pouring in. Durty Mick, Contra and Longshot expect to have their copies for release at more or less the same time.

New Merchandise

The band will have two new t-shirt designs in stock at Mainstage to promote the launch of the album as well as new Girls Polos.
